Battle Dungeons
As part of a secret mission given to the Shinsengumi by the Bakufu, you must expose anti-Bakufu factions while exterminating bandit strongholds in the caves surrounding Kyo.
Battle Dungeons are where this mission is carried out.
In addition to defeating formidable foes in the deepest parts of the lair, some missions require you to recover 1000-ryo boxes or rescue kidnapped villagers.
You will receive money for completing these missions. You can also keep anything you find in pots or crates within the dungeons, as well as any weapons or materials dropped by enemies.
Materials can be easily found in Battle Dungeons, so they are a great resource for crafting and enhancing weapons.Battle Dungeon Bosses
On certain missions, bosses with gargantuan physiques will be waiting for your arrival.
These foes have powerful close-range attacks, and if you stray too far away from them, they will heave arrows at you with brute force. It's crucial to approach them with caution.
Enhance Ryoma's abilities, weapons, and troopers, and then challenge them. -
The bosses in "Like a Dragon: Ishin!" will sometimes use powerful special abilities.
Among them, Okada Izo and Tokugawa Yoshinobu have some rather distinctive techniques.Okada Izo can generate tornados by swinging his sword.
If you are struck by these, you will be poisoned and take additional damage over time.
Being poisoned will also prevent you from running, making you more vulnerable to Izo's attacks.
He makes a stance before unleashing the tornados, so use this to your advantage.Tokugawa Yoshinobu has a piercing flame ability that attacks in a straight line. Even if you are at a distance from him, take care not to get hit by it.
If you are struck by this ability, you will take heavy damage and be inflicted with a burn effect.
This attack cannot be guarded, so make sure to dodge instead. -

Make allies through battles and recruitment, and then mix and match them to create the perfect squad!Varied and powerful Trooper Abilities
There is a great variety of Trooper Abilities in the game. You can gain access to explosive techniques by allying with powerful troopers. Some troopers also have abilities that create supportive, buff-like effects or restore your health.
Compresses heat into a blade and then unleashes it in a spinning area-of-effect attack that damages nearby enemies.
A fierce technique that gathers Heat and explodes it, burning nearby foes and knocking them down. It's a good way to create space when surrounded by many enemies.
Combining Trooper Abilities effectively
By combining Trooper Abilities in an effective way, you can string up combo attacks, make up for weak spots, or use abilities to enhance another.
By combining the characteristics of abilities in an effective way, you can create a strong, synergistic effect.
For example, you can use Yonashiro Shozo's "Essence of the Void" to gather surrounding foes in one place, and then strike them all with a piercing attack through Tendo Yojiro's "Essence of the Unyielding Wave". This combination makes it easy to deal heavy damage to large numbers of enemies.
By combining and weaving your Trooper Abilities effectively, you can compensate for the weak spots of strong abilities, increase activation speeds, and more, improving the overall efficiency of your abilities.
Kasuga Ichinojo's "When Words Fail" is a powerful ability that causes all attacks to deal critical damage. However, the effect's short duration makes it difficult to use efficiently.
On the other hand, Shinada Tatsunosuke's "Time is Fleeting" slows down time. So, you can activate Shinada's "Time is Fleeting" when enemies are in attack range, and then follow that up with Kasuga's "When Words Fail". This will let you use Kasuga's ability effectively and deal heavy amounts of damage to your foes. -
With your swords, firearms, and fists, you can utilize four different styles during battles. Each style has a variety of Heat Actions and Special Moves. There are even familiar abilities from previous games in the series.
Some Heat Actions can be learned through trainers in the town or acquired through Revelations.Special Moves
Special Moves can be learned from trainers. Like Heat Actions, they consume Heat from your Heat Gauge when activated.
Special Moves have different properties depending on the style.
Each style has its own moves and effects, like the Swordsman style "Dragonfang Flash", which allows you to dash to an enemy and unleash a powerful slashing attack, and the Gunman style "Dragonfire Blaze", which allows you to lock on to a crowd of enemies and blast them all at once.
Every Special Move is a powerful technique that deals heavy damage to foes.Learning abilities through Revelations
By fulfilling certain conditions, you can trigger a Revelation and learn a new ability.
Each style has its own Revelations. To activate a Revelation, you must have a Book of Revelations in your possession. These can be obtained from trainers after finishing their teachings. They can also be obtained as rewards from completing Wanted Men orders.
After acquiring a Book of Revelations, if you perform certain actions a specific number of times during battle, inspiration will strike and Ryoma will suddenly have a Revelation.
These Revelations will grant you extremely powerful abilities.
For example, "Dance of Mourning" allows you to evade an enemy's attack, slip behind their back, slash them, and then jump in the air while firing rapidly with your gun. -
